In the Hospitality Arena

Our Managing Partner was selected to Chair the PKF North America Hospitality Task Force for 2010. "The resources, relationships, training and strategic alliances available through PKF North American Network help us to assist our hospitality clients as they face the challenges and changes inherent in the industry," said Mr. Freire.

On November 12, 2009, Henry Freire and Clare Cella are co-presenting a CPE module on "Asset Impairment and Valuation of Hotels" at the Foundation for Accounting Education's Restaurant and Hospitality Breakfast. John Fox of PKF Consulting is also on the program.

Clare Cella was interviewed for the autumn edition of Ehlite Magazine for an article entitled "Let the Good Times Roll?"

International Connection

Our Director of Accounting & Auditing Theo Vermaak was just named the Chairman of PKF's International Professional Standards Committee (IPSC). More than an "honorary" position, Theo will be at the forefront of ensuring that professional international standards are assimilated over PKF's worldwide network.

On the Tax Front

Leo Parmegiani just got back from San Francisco where he addressed the PKF International Tax Conference. His topics included:

Debt Write-Off and Cancellation of Debt Income
Tax Liquidations and Sale of Subsidiary Stock
Profit Repatriation
Utilization of Tax Losses
Exit Strategies and Implications of Liquidations

Incidentally, the PKF group stayed at the Grand Hyatt and was "treated" to a wildcat strike of hotel workers. Who knew?

"While planning the design and deployment of the iManage WorkSite solution, we quickly realized that we needed additional products that would allow us to work seamlessly between CaseWare (WorkingPapers) and the DMS.
